9/12/2023 0 Comments Chicago time zone vs boston![]() I’ve not done a winter in Boston yet but it is much nicer having it get cold later and at a slower pace than in Chicago. However it is typically cheaper in my experience to fly in and out of Chicago. In Chicago there are fewer options, especially if you don’t have a car and everything is far away. You live in the Midwest now so are familiar w this but in Boston it is super easy to do weekend trips to NYC/the beach/mountains/hiking and it is much more accessible, even without a car. I doubled the amount I pay for a room in a two bedroom apartment.Ĭhicago is so far away from everything else. The Esplanade/Charles/Bay are nice but nothing beats Lake Michigan and the lakeshore in general.īoston is so expensive. Things close sooo early here and if you want a late night bite to eat you are usually out of luck. I lived in an area that got pretty bad during the pandemic in terms of safety and it is something you do always have to think about in Chicago, and less so in Boston (though you do still need street smarts lol)Ĭhicago absolutely has a better food and nightlife scene. However, I never took transit super late at night in Chicago because of safety concerns so it’s nice to feel safer walking around at night. I love both cities and their vibes feel pretty similar, just on a smaller scale in Boston.īoston is so much more walkable because it isn’t as spread out, but transit is SO much worse here than in Chicago (and it closes early), so walking is more necessary. I ended up in Boston mostly to do something new, but there are a few things that helped me make the choice and a few things I miss about Chicago. For context, I was born in Chicago, grew up on the East Coast, and ended up back in Chicago for school. I had to make the same decision last year (and also in econ consulting funnily enough). ![]() If no recent results for the same kind of inquiry exist, feel free to start a discussion! Still curious?
